Mother's Day Weekend

We had such a busy fun weekend! The girls had their dance recital pictures on Friday so we made a girls day out of it. We did some shopping then headed to the salon so they could get their hair done in an vintage updo which is the requirement/theme for this years recital. They love anything to do with hair and makeup, they had a blast. It was a tad stressful trying to get them to sit still and not mess up their hair before pictures.....But I'm sure when I get their pictures back it will be a classic with red lipstick on their teeth and their hair sticking up everywhere! :)

Saturday we celebrated Mother's Day out at my Aunt's house, it felt great catching up and spending time with family. The twins were literally counting down the days until we were able to go. My Mom was supposed to meet us there for dinner but got held up at a seminar she was attending out of town and missed it:(

We love this girl right here ^^ Can't say enough good things about her generosity, love and support over the years.

I couldn't help but praise God and feel his presence at church on Mother's Day. I felt so humbled and grateful for my three healthy babies and my Mother whom I love more than anything. I don't know where I would be without her. My heart goes out to those who mourn the loss of their sweet Mama's, the woman who are desperate for a baby and can't conceive or the unthinkable, Mother's who have lost a child. May God comfort you and help you find peace.

I have so much to be thankful for and Mother's Day was a special reminder of that! Not because my kids had any less tantrums (maybe even more than usual.) Not because I was pampered or treated any differently, but because it's a reminder what motherhood is all about. The life long sacrifices and unconditional love that streams through us each and every day.

Right when we woke up the girls told me good morning with the sweetest little tone then said "Happy Muderr's Da Mama" and it melted my heart. We had a low key day at home relaxing and cuddled up since it was cold and cloudy. I feel extremely blessed and thank God every day, and twice on Sunday for my beautiful, precious souls who made me a Mom.

Last but not least, thank you Mom for everything you have done for me. You are such a faithful, loving, beautiful woman both inside and out. I don't know if I have ever sincerely apologized for all I put you through growing up. You deserve a metal! You are such a strong, intelligent, independent woman. I couldn't ask for a better example. After becoming a Mama myself I can emphasize with you so much more and understand exactly where you were coming from. If only I would have listened back then. I love you with every piece of my heart!

Recovering

I recently had surgery to repair a hernia that I've had since childhood and after having my babies it got worse. Let me start by saying I've had two C-sections, broke several different bones and had stitches all in the past. I can handle pain- but this was pretty rough!!

Thankfully my mama has been staying with us, I wouldn't have been able to do it without her help.  I'm not supposed to be lifting for a couple weeks which has been torture for us all so I'm hoping all the pain and inconvenience will be worth it once I'm completely healed.

Mee-Maw's stay-cation at our house has seriously been heaven for the kids! I'm sure she is ready to be back home but the girls would keep her here forever if they could, and I probably would too. She is a saint to us all.

I went back and forth on if and when to have the surgery but since I'm done having babies and would like to start working out it was medically necessary.  The tear in my abdominal wall was causing some digestive problems and then some not to mention the ugly belly button that never went back in after having my children.

I'm not real keen on diets or strict work outs. I have never owned a gym membership and probably never will. I'm not fawned of big muscles on girls or guys for that matter so that's not my goal. I will just focus on being healthy, toned and strengthening my over all core.

With an umbilical hernia it was impossible to have a flat stomach no matter what I did so I'm hoping this will help! Not making any promises to myself. Although having twins and then another good sized baby has enriched my life beyond measures- I definitely can't say the same about my body. Regardless, it was obviously worth it!

Mee-Maw has done nothing but spoil me and the littles while she's been here with home-cooked meals, cleaning the house and playing with the kids. Her and Papa got the girls new princess dresses, their favorite thing to do at home is play dress up.  They played lots of games and been able to spend some quality time together while I got some rest.

Praying for a speedy recovery and hoping to be back to myself soon! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

Best Of Sundays

I had some early birds on my hands Sunday morning. Since everyone was up at sunrise we made it out to first service with the rest of the fam. I loved having the extra help so I could actually hear at least half of what our Pastor was saying.

After church we went to one of my favorite places for brunch. It was our Grandma Great's Birthday so we got to spend some time with her which the kids always love. We seriously ate enough for the entire day- I'll skip meal prep/clean up at home whenever possible. Then we basically spent the rest of the day outside.

We took out our  Step2 choo choo wagon. All my littles and their full bellies fell fast asleep so I walked for miles hoping to burn off all those calories from brunch and then some! I will be feeling that one tomorrow. If your looking for a good summer work out just pull a train behind you!

Sundays truly are the best! I love making it out to church and so do the kids. Any day we get to spend time with family and hear the Gospel is a great day in my book. Happy 84th Birthday to our Grandma Great, wishing her many more!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

A Beautiful Day

It was such a beautiful relaxing day! I'm finally feeling like myself again. We spent the day with Mee-Maw and Papa enjoying the outdoors. I can't say enough how much I love this weather and the sun shinning- I was an Arizona girl so I will take any warm weather we can get!

Polka dots and pink denim is my kind of outfit! I was excited to be off the couch and in regular clothes again. I have a love for denim this spring and a denim jacket is the best way to layer an outfit and of course the chambray tops on the girls couldn't be any cuter!

My mama is truly the best hostess! We had a picnic outside today with fresh almond salads and corn dogs -per request of the twins, which I'll admit I was fine with! I look forward to picnicing with the littles all summer long!

Hope everyone had a great day!!

Weekend With The Flu

Raising Iowa Flu
I couldn't wait to be back with my babies after spending hours in a hospital due to the stomach bug/dehydration. It's the worst when us mama's get sick because there is no such thing as time off. My littles rely on me for anything and everything but I was happy they were able to spend some time at their dad's so they didn't catch it! I'm pretty sure Deacon already had it early last week just thankfully not as bad!

When I was pregnant with Deacon this mama bear became a total germophobe! I knew it was hard enough keeping the twins healthy let alone a new babyI limited outside contact with anyone even remotely sick. I was frantic about keeping my kids healthy (Rightfully so) I carried around disinfectant wipes like it was my job! My children aren't in daycare, which is a blessing and over all the kids stayed pretty healthy with the exception of minor colds here and there.

However after this weekend I realized all my extra precautions and stress was hardly worth itAs mothers we want to protect our children from anything and everything within our control and I do just that. But, being terrified of germs limits our adventures which isn't good. I'm aware you need to be exposed to germs to build immunity but the exposure part is no fun!

Don't get me wrong we will still be using Babyganics Foaming Hand Sanitizer around our house. But, maybe just a tad less. I will have to brave some of the germs and enjoy life more knowing I'm truly not the one in control anyways. Times like these I count my blessings and feel thankful for our overall health!

Our weekend felt so wasted, it was way too beautiful to be sick! I'm still slightly recovering and hoping for a much better week germ free!

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."(Proverbs 3:5-6)

Easter Sunday

Raising Iowa Easter Sunday
Hope everyone had the happiest Easter!! We had such beautiful weather here and got to spend majority of the day outdoors. Our Easter egg hunt and brunch at the house was a success. The kids were so excited when they woke up to see what the Easter Bunny brought them. (Whom was outside hiding eggs at 11:00pm) and preparing the meal for the next day. This bunny is tired!

There were so many cute baskets and stuffed bunnies out there it was hard to resist, but in the end I'm glad I stuck to the plan and used the baskets from prior years and no stuffed animal rule. We. Have. Way. Too. Much. However Mee-Maw and Papa missed the memo apparently.  Oh well, the girls were so over the moon excited about their "quack quacks" that they skipped right over naps and played all afternoon long. An early bed time coming our way!
Raising Iowa Easter Sunday
We are extremely blessed by such loving and supportive friends and family. I don't know what I would ever do without them, especially my Mama. She is such a blessing to me and my children. She's the best evidence of God's Love on earth, and that's what today is all about. The resurrection of Jesus Christ and the forgiveness of our sins. The selfless deeds and sacrifices we should make for one another every day.

He Is Risen. He Is Risen In Deed!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

We are far from Irish over here and didn't partake in any of the weekend shenanigans but we still had some fun of our own! Saturday when I picked the kids up I surprised the girls with their very own green carnations for St. Patrick's Day and we headed out to my parents to see some family from out of town. We ate dinner and hung out there majority of the night. It's always the kid's favorite place to be.

I searched bakeries in the area to snag some shamrock donuts last minute but we had to settle for green sprinkles instead- by the look on the girls faces they don't seem to be too amused by them, but I assure you donuts are their favorite no matter what color they are!

Deacon and Princeton are BFF, the boys gotta stick together. We got Princeton a new doggy bed for spring and I can't tell who is enjoying it more...

We will be spending the next few days getting the house ready for Easter/spring and the girls couldn't be more excited to get out their bajillion bunnies and baskets from last year. And I'm sure there is only more to come. Every time I go downstairs to do laundry they take the opportunity to go through storage and bring up their holiday animals one by one that are supposed to be packed away.

Soon I will be sharing with you what the Easter Bunny is stuffing their baskets with this year! I might love it all just as much as them. Stay tuned!

Have a Happy St. Patrick's Day, and maybe even a GREEN beer or two, Cheers!!
