Recovering

I recently had surgery to repair a hernia that I've had since childhood and after having my babies it got worse. Let me start by saying I've had two C-sections, broke several different bones and had stitches all in the past. I can handle pain- but this was pretty rough!!

Thankfully my mama has been staying with us, I wouldn't have been able to do it without her help.  I'm not supposed to be lifting for a couple weeks which has been torture for us all so I'm hoping all the pain and inconvenience will be worth it once I'm completely healed.

Mee-Maw's stay-cation at our house has seriously been heaven for the kids! I'm sure she is ready to be back home but the girls would keep her here forever if they could, and I probably would too. She is a saint to us all.

I went back and forth on if and when to have the surgery but since I'm done having babies and would like to start working out it was medically necessary.  The tear in my abdominal wall was causing some digestive problems and then some not to mention the ugly belly button that never went back in after having my children.

I'm not real keen on diets or strict work outs. I have never owned a gym membership and probably never will. I'm not fawned of big muscles on girls or guys for that matter so that's not my goal. I will just focus on being healthy, toned and strengthening my over all core.

With an umbilical hernia it was impossible to have a flat stomach no matter what I did so I'm hoping this will help! Not making any promises to myself. Although having twins and then another good sized baby has enriched my life beyond measures- I definitely can't say the same about my body. Regardless, it was obviously worth it!

Mee-Maw has done nothing but spoil me and the littles while she's been here with home-cooked meals, cleaning the house and playing with the kids. Her and Papa got the girls new princess dresses, their favorite thing to do at home is play dress up.  They played lots of games and been able to spend some quality time together while I got some rest.

Praying for a speedy recovery and hoping to be back to myself soon! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

Shopping Adventures

Raising Iowa Shopping
Yesterday was another beautiful day and we took full advantage as always. The girls are in need of some flip flops and jellies for this summer, before they're all sold out so we headed out to shop around after Deacon's haircut.

I always prepare myself knowing anywhere we adventure out to just us four is typically a challenge! And today was no exception. I hate.. let me repeat HATE using public restrooms. I seriously would almost rather my bladder burst than to have to use one. Unfortunately I can't make the kids hold it but I strongly encourage them to use the restroom before we ever leave the house.

Today Brooklyn told me she needed to go potty in the middle of carter's shortly after we got there, with (no restroom near us) and I had my hands full of clearance items I was quickly trying to snag up. Thankfully the associate at the store said we could use the employee restroom so just as I was putting everything down to take Brooklyn back I turn around and there she is peeing right on the floor in the middle of the store! I was like what are you doing Brooklyn!! She replied with "I told you mama, I told you." Point taken.

I was mortified. I had to quick buy her a new pair of pants and underwear because I was purposely traveling light with no extra change of clothes. Then I proceeded to clean up their floor. I couldn't have gotten out of there fast enough and ended up completing my purchase online. I got these flip flops to match their suits this summer with a couple of other cute pairs.

I will stick to my online shopping from the comfort of my home from here on out. It's getting to the point of impossible with all three TODDLERS almost anywhere we go. I have harnesses for the twins which I couldn't have done without last year but as they get older it looks even more silly walking my toddlers on a leash. ha!

We went home and had lunch outside and lounged around before nap. It was overall a great day!! We are looking forward to a low key weekend and enjoying all this sunny weather- possibly on a new patio!! I will be sharing the progress with y'all soon.

Have a wonderful weekend loves!

Weekend With The Flu

Raising Iowa Flu
I couldn't wait to be back with my babies after spending hours in a hospital due to the stomach bug/dehydration. It's the worst when us mama's get sick because there is no such thing as time off. My littles rely on me for anything and everything but I was happy they were able to spend some time at their dad's so they didn't catch it! I'm pretty sure Deacon already had it early last week just thankfully not as bad!

When I was pregnant with Deacon this mama bear became a total germophobe! I knew it was hard enough keeping the twins healthy let alone a new baby. I limited outside contact with anyone even remotely sick. I was frantic about keeping my kids healthy (Rightfully so) I carried around disinfectant wipes like it was my job! My children aren't in daycare, which is a blessing and over all the kids stayed pretty healthy with the exception of minor colds here and there.

However after this weekend I realized all my extra precautions and stress was hardly worth it. As mothers we want to protect our children from anything and everything within our control and I do just that. But, being terrified of germs limits our adventures which isn't good. I'm aware you need to be exposed to germs to build immunity but the exposure part is no fun!

Don't get me wrong we will still be using Babyganics Foaming Hand Sanitizer around our house. But, maybe just a tad less. I will have to brave some of the germs and enjoy life more knowing I'm truly not the one in control anyways. Times like these I count my blessings and feel thankful for our overall health!

Our weekend felt so wasted, it was way too beautiful to be sick! I'm still slightly recovering and hoping for a much better week germ free!

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."(Proverbs 3:5-6)

Craft Day

Raising Iowa Crafts
Land of Nod (This exact one is sold out) Similar kit Here

I have the intention of home schooling my three children starting with preschool this year, so we have a cabinet packed full of school activities and supplies. I slowly have been pinning different ideas for the kids and I to do at home (mainly on rainy or cold days.) The awesome part about home schooling is we aren't limited to a class room or any time restraints. Frequent travel and educational trips will be in our near future. The sky is the limit and I truly look forward to it.

That being said, the majority of this week has been cold and rainy outside so we haven't been able to get out much. These are the days we have to get creative at home. The twins got a rainy day survival kit for Christmas this year from family, and we put it to good use! Deacon was a little young for the crafts so he did some greek yogurt painting of his own!

The girls were very proud of their finished product! "Little girl the cow" and "girl the caterpillar" what creative names they came up with. haha These were simple fun crafts and a very easy clean up.

Hope ya'll have a wonderful weekend!!

Lately Via iPhone

Life has been busy and on the go. Looking forward to some down time. Poor Deacon started not feeling well which I hope just has to do with teething. He is finally getting in his molars and I feel so bad for him! The twins are getting more curious, smarter, and entertaining by the day! I'm loving these ages. Why do they have to grow up!!(Tear)

Here are some pics of us over the past couple of weeks doing what we do best! Enjoy :)

My top: Lululemon
Newly obsessed with Lululemon. This workout top is the best! I have every intention of working out,  just never find the time! In my defense every day around our house is a work out, my littles give me a run for my money.

We have spent quite a few days at the park soaking up the beautiful spring weather we have been blessed with so far! The kids would spend every second there if they could. Plus, it's always a bonus when Mee-maw comes with!

The coolest swings ever!! ^^
Deacon holds on for dear life in a swing, he is still unsure if he likes it. Definitely not as fearless as the twins.

Deacon is such a climber lately and this was his proud "look at me face" right after he climbed up and sat down! I'm obsessed!Raising Iowa - Pics

Puppy Purses

Livy Kate and Brooklyn horde everything they can find in bags, purses, pouches etc. The other day I was looking for something as always- things magically disappear on a daily basis. I started looking through one of Livy Kate's puppy purses for my In a Fix Mini Tool Kit I keep in my purse, which always comes in handy.  She yelled "mom! Don't go through my purse. You have your own purse" as she was on the verge of a complete melt down grabbing it away from me. I started laughing so hard I couldn't even explain what I was trying to find while reassuring her I wasn't going to take anything from her.

They are extremely protective of their belongings, mainly because they have to share every thing with one another so they hide, horde, and protect things like they are going out of style. The one thing that makes me crazy, can turn around on days I'm cleaning and crack me up. What I find in the bags and containers all over the house is quite comical.

This started when they were really little too. Whatever came in the box or gift bag at Christmas or birthdays didn't matter, they wanted the bag and in no time had it filled with the most random stuff. The down side is it's not limited to their things, they almost always confiscate other people's belongings. Which you never find until way after the fact! I have gotten smart enough now if something is missing I know exactly where to look! And, lone be hold.. there's my mini tool kit along with my lip gloss. Such little thieves.
We have spent majority of the day snuggled in bed, with subzero temperatures and snow on the ground not much motivates us to leave the house. Hope everyone is staying warm out there!
