The kids love apples and there are so many things you can make with them, so we headed out to the country for a day of apple picking. Tis' the season.
The apple trees weren't sprayed, i.e. organic and a tad wormy, but they can be picked through and salvaged with a little bit of work! It was a super hot day, especially for September so we all got pretty dirty and started to sweat being out there. Livy decided she didn't like it and found a place on a rock and said "it's too dirty, I don't want to do that anymore."
My little girly girl.
Deacon spent most of his time with a mouth full of apples no matter how many times I told him not to eat them before we washed them.. he snuck a bite every time I turned my head.
Our boots were perfect for the occasion- they are a great investment for every member of the family in my opinion.
Brooklyn probably gathered the most! She did a great job reaching into the trees and pulling them off herself.
After we gathered and washed all our apples we had a whole preschool lesson focused around harvest, apples, and a history lesson celebrating Johnny Appleseed's birthday with balloons and all. Then the girls got to help make an apple pie from scratch!
It's safe to say we all enjoyed today's lesson and this scrumptious apple pie!
Happy fall and apple pickin' to ya'll!! ;)
